Director/Guitar Teacher

Samantha is a Bachelor of Music Graduate who now performs professionally around Australia as a solo artist whilst writing and recording original music. She is passionate about teaching guitar and believes that while technical ability is important, it is equally important to teach the student to love and appreciate music and their instrument as a whole.

Director/Singing Teacher

As well as completing her Bachelor of Music, Kathleen has recently completed her Graduate Certificate of Music Studies majoring in Vocal Pedagogy. Kathleen is always looking forward to new creative opportunities, putting her incredible energy into developing the talents of the students she teaches at Downtown Creative Studios.

Guitar Teacher

Tom is in his final year studying jazz at the Jazz Music Institute after he spent more than ten years teaching himself guitar, bass, and singing. He has written, recorded, produced and self-released several of his own albums and played in an array of bands around Brisbane since 2015. 

Singing/Piano Teacher

Miss Emma is a Brisbane-based teacher, performer, and creative artist, who aims to inspire her students through her love of music. She is trained in classical vocals and piano (AMEB), and continued her musical journey beyond secondary education, studying a Bachelor of Creative Arts in Music.

Piano Teacher

Yuko studied classical piano at Ueno Gakuen Music University in Japan. She’s been teaching music throughout her career and loves sharing her knowledge with her students. She feels so blessed to be able to teach her wonderful students every day!

Singing/Piano Teacher

Miss Hayley is a contemporary indie-folk artist, singer-songwriter and musician and began her music career as a classical singer. She studied classical voice at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music graduating
with a Bachelor of Music.

Guitar Teacher

Xander Johnson-Barnes is a dedicated jazz guitarist and educator based in Brisbane. Currently in the final year of his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance at the esteemed Jazz Music Institute, Xander’s musical journey began at the age of 7 when he first picked up the guitar.

When not focused on academic pursuits, Xander can be found on stage, gigging as a jazz guitarist across Brisbane. With a profound desire to share his love for guitar, Xander welcomes students of all levels, from beginners to those seeking to refine their skills.

Spencer Wilson is a 2020 Jazz Guitar graduate from the Queensland Conservatorium who is passionate about playing and teaching all types of music.

Returning from travelling abroad playing in Toronto, New York and even on sea for P&O, Spencer’s focus in lessons is in bringing out an innate sense of creativity and curiosity in each student through the study of the masters, as well as through the refinement of technique, rhythm, and comfort with their instrument or choice.

Miss Emily’s studied at the Queensland Conservatorium, graduating with a Bachelor of Popular Music in 2018. Here, she wrote and recorded her own debut EP, formed a band and interned as a music journalist.  

Now, when she’s not performing, she wants to foster the passion she has for music in the next generation. Emily teaches with the belief that music doesn’t have to be complicated, basing her lessons around putting creativity and musical exploration first.

Jed Walters, a multi-instrumentalist based in Brisbane, specialises in guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and music production. Graduating from Queensland Conservatorium with a Bachelor of Popular Music (Class I Honours), Jed’s musical journey is defined by over a decade of performing and recording with numerous acts. Beyond his own performances, he derives genuine fulfillment from guiding aspiring musicians as a teacher, fostering their passion for music in a supportive and encouraging environment.
